Stephen is Walking!

Last week at G&G Hansen's house he took his first steps. He's been practicing quite a bit this week but never went over 4 or 5 steps. Then this morning he let go of the table and took off walking like 15 or 20 steps! It was rather exciting. Poor daddy was late for his morning church meetings - oh well, I think it was worth it :)

Arms Race UPDATE

So over a month ago I wrote about Stephen hoisting himself up on our little barricade we created for him a few months ago (the one we keep adding to and he keeps figuring out how to conquer). Well when it first happened I immediately distracted him and he didn't try it again. Then we left for our Christmas vacation and luckily he basically forgot that he had the ability to get over the wall. Well tonight he figured it out again :( So we put some boards under the Rubbermaid containers which raised them just enough that he couldn't pull the same move. It's definitely a temporary fix.

He claps, he slaps, he waves all for $19.95

Stephen finally learned how to wave while we were down in AZ for Christmas. Now it's his second favorite hand action next to slapping anything hard. And today he just up and decided to start clapping.

We kept seeing younger children wave and clap and we tried very hard not to compare but there's always a little part of you that thinks, "come on kid, hurry up!" Well the wait is over and frankly it's rather anti-climactic. He acts as though he's been waving and clapping forever--I guess I was hoping for more drums or fireworks . . . maybe just a little more cowbell ;)
